WASHINGTON – Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) is pushing for greater fairness, transparency, and accountability in the Local Share Account (LSA) program in Washington County. Cook emphasized that these principles should be a priority for all elected officials and public servants. He has been advocating for answers about the LSA program on behalf of the people of Washington County for over seven years and will continue to do so until satisfactory answers are obtained.

One of the key issues Cook highlighted is the $10 million in unaccounted funds in the LSA program. He also pointed out that the previous board of commissioners spent $30,000 fighting Right-to-Know requests regarding the program. Additionally, Cook expressed his concern about the refusal to rotate elected state representatives on the LSA committee. He believes that an audit of the program is necessary to ensure accountability for the allocation and utilization of funds for various projects.

During the commissioner's meeting, Cook reiterated his stance on the need for transparency and accountability in the LSA program. He stated, "This is a non-negotiable for me and should be that way for any and all elected officials and public servants." Cook's unwavering dedication to seeking answers and advocating for the interests of the people of Washington County is evident in his ongoing efforts to address the concerns surrounding the LSA program.
