Several members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly are calling on Gov. Josh Shapiro to take action to safeguard local health care access for residents of Washington and Greene counties. The call to action is being led by Reps. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington), Josh Kail (R-Beaver/Washington), and Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington), along with other community leaders and stakeholders.

During a press conference scheduled for Tuesday, April 9 at 10:15 a.m. at the Ryan Rotunda in Harrisburg, various individuals will voice their concerns and urge Governor Shapiro to prioritize the protection of health care services in the region. The speakers include Electra Janis, Washington County commissioner; JoJo Burgess, mayor of the city of Washington; Neal Lesher, director of government affairs for the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry; Saundra Lemley, employee of Washington Health System Greene; and Mark Shepler, financial secretary for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66.

The press conference is expected to shed light on the importance of maintaining local health care access and the potential repercussions of failing to address the issue promptly. Those interested in following the event remotely can access the livestream on Rep. O'Neal's website, RepONeal.com.
