Senator Camera Bartolotta announced that the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) has provisionally awarded $2.8 million to Amazon Kuiper, Advanced Telephone System, Inc., and SpaceX for broadband expansion in the 46th Senatorial District.

“Access to reliable, high-speed internet is a concern my offices hear about often from people in all walks of life,” Bartolotta said. “We must ensure families, businesses, and communities have the tools they need to thrive in today’s connected world. This investment will help close the digital divide.”

The funding comes from Pennsylvania’s nearly $800 million share of the federally funded Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. The program aims to extend high-speed internet across the state.

Applicants will match the awarded funds, resulting in a total investment of $5.5 million for the district. The award targets unserved and underserved households, schools, and businesses. It also supports initiatives to make internet service more accessible for families, broaden access to digital resources, and foster workforce development and job growth.

More information can be found on PBDA’s website.
