Annual ‘Blessing of the Balers’ event set for May 6 in Harrisburg

Supporters of Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry will convene at the state Capitol for the Third Annual Blessing of the Balers. Hosted by State Representative Bud Cook, this event spotlights the state’s leading industry and recognizes May as Beef Month. Attendees will see tractors and balers displayed on-site.

This year introduces live entertainment by Rep. Jake Banta. Additionally, students serving as advisors from Cook’s district will participate, and free milkshakes will be available. Attendees can also register on Cook’s website for a complimentary burger.

Remarks will be provided by Rep. Cook, Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding, and the Rev. Donald Wilson. Other attendees include Duff George, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Beef Council Board and a member of the Pennsylvania Cattleman’s Board, and Chris Hoffman, President of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Representatives from the Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council and the Pennsylvania Livestock Association will also be present.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, at 11:45 a.m. on Commonwealth Avenue behind the state Capitol building in Harrisburg.
