Senator Camera Bartolotta is organizing an event aimed at preventing identity theft. The event, scheduled for June 14, will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Fort Cherry High School Gymnasium parking lot in McDonald.
The initiative is designed as a drive-through event for individuals, not businesses. Participants can bring up to two bags or boxes of documents for shredding by an industrial shredder truck on-site. Additionally, information on identity theft prevention will be available.
Senator Bartolotta emphasized the importance of such measures, stating, “While scammers are always coming up with new ways to take advantage of others, there are still some who access confidential information via our trash to steal identities.” She encourages residents to join her in safely disposing of personal documents.
Certain items like phone books, newspapers, and bound books will not be accepted. Participants should also remove any binder or paper clips from their documents before attending.
No registration is required for this event. Residents with questions can contact the district office at 724-225-4380.
