Nearly $2.1 million in grants have been awarded to projects across Pennsylvania’s 48th Legislative District, according to Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington). The funding comes from the Commonwealth Financing Authority and supports stormwater and transportation initiatives.

“These grants address pressing storm water and transportation issues in the 48th Legislative District,” O’Neal said. “By tackling stormwater problems, erosion and flooding are reduced. In addition, fixing roadways reduces wear and tear on vehicles, thus mitigating costs for drivers. I will continue to advocate for funds for Washington County.”

The Multimodal Transportation Fund has provided grants to support economic development and improve local transportation infrastructure. Recipients include Amwell Township, which will receive $169,700 to replace the East Hillsboro Road Bridge; Carroll Township with $339,850 for landslide remediation along Columbia Road; and North Franklin Chestnut LLC with $650,056 for repaving at Washington Crown Center.

The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program is providing funds for water management improvements. Carroll Township will get $73,312 to construct a bioswale at Valley Avenue Park. The Carroll Township Authority is set to receive $260,525 to upgrade the Pigeon Creek Pump Station. North Strabane Township will use $50,073 for runoff control near McGregor Avenue and an additional $116,090 for drainage work on Curry Avenue. The Washington-East Washington Joint Authority has been awarded $425,000 to rehabilitate manholes along the Chartiers Interceptor Sewer.

O’Neal represents portions of Washington County as a Republican state representative and serves as Republican Whip in the House of Representatives. He draws on military service and private-sector experience to support job creation and infrastructure development (official website). His offices are located both in Washington, Pennsylvania, and Harrisburg (official website).

The 48th Legislative District includes the city of Washington; Amwell; parts of Carroll (Districts 3-5), East Finley, Fallowfield, Morris, North Franklin; parts of North Strabane (Districts 1-5), Nottingham, Somerset, South Franklin, South Strabane; West Finley townships; Donora; East Washington; and Green Hills boroughs.
