Later that day, he noted Mississippi teachers’ interest in legislative measures to manage student cell phone usage. Ortitay wrote, “Mississippi teachers wanted legislation to ban cell phones in school.”

Additionally, Ortitay referenced similar legislative actions taken by other states concerning electronic devices in schools. He remarked that “WV and Rhode Island passed legislation requiring school districts have a policy on cell phones and personal electronic devices.”

In recent years, many states have grappled with policies addressing technology use within educational settings to balance learning opportunities and distractions.
