Rep. Tim O’Neal has announced that the LeMoyne Community Center in Washington will receive a $249,782 BOOST grant to enhance its Homework and More program. This initiative aims to support local youth by providing academic assistance and various enrichment activities.

“The LeMoyne Community Center provides a safe, welcoming place for area youth to flourish,” stated O’Neal. He emphasized the importance of the Homework and More program, noting its role in helping students succeed academically while also offering meals and keeping them engaged in positive activities.

The grant will enable the expansion of the program to accommodate over 250 students from K-12 across different school districts in Washington County. Besides homework help, participants can engage in diverse classes such as book clubs, African drumming, life skills, STEAM sessions, Girl Scouts, cooking classes, sports, Spanish lessons, recreation, and photography. The program also offers dinner and snacks with transportation options available.

BOOST grants are designed to fund structured programs or activities with mentors for at-risk youth before school, after school, or during summer breaks.

The 48th Legislative District represented by O’Neal includes various townships and boroughs within Washington County.
