Rep. Tim O’Neal announced on April 13 that he will host a free shredding event for residents of the 48th Legislative District on Saturday, April 18, at Hollywood Casino at the Meadows. The event will run from 9 to 11 a.m. and is intended to help community members protect themselves against identity theft by securely disposing of personal documents.
The shredding service is open to individuals living in the district, with a limit of three brown paper grocery bags or small cardboard boxes per household. Businesses are not permitted to participate. Bags are preferred over boxes, and items with large binder clips or hardbound covers will not be accepted. Materials thicker than one inch must be broken down before drop-off.
“Identity theft continues to be a serious issue,” O’Neal said. “Thieves can obtain personal information in many ways, but one of the easiest ways to protect yourself is by securely disposing of documents that contain sensitive data. I encourage all residents to take part in this event.” Participants are asked to place their materials in their vehicle trunk and remain inside their vehicles while staff remove the items.
O’Neal has kept district offices at 190 N. Main St., Suite 308, in Washington, Pennsylvania, as well as a Capitol office at 428 Main Capitol Building in Harrisburg, according to the official website. He represents parts of Washington County as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives according to his official website and currently serves as Republican Whip according to his official website. O’Neal took office following a special election held in May 2018 according to his official website.
O’Neal’s private-sector experience has informed his advocacy for job creation, infrastructure improvements, energy diversity and independence, and government reform according to his official website.
