Cost of college went up for all students at California University of Pennsylvania

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.5 percent for 2018-19 at California University of Pennsylvania, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $11,108 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $268 more than the $10,840 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 41.6 percent more than residents this year, or $15,726. Their price tag grew 2.6 percent from $15,326 in 2017-18.

About 93 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents. About 5 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 857 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.3 million and 808 students took out student loans totaling more than $5.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (7,310), 3,707 students used grants or scholarships totaling $24.6 million, and 3,993 students took out $26.8 million in federal student loans.
