State Rep. Cook, Bud | Pennsylvania 50th Legislative District
Fire and emergency response organizations in the 50th Legislation District, including Greene County and portions of Washington County, have received over $400,000 in grants from the state, announced Rep. Bud Cook (R-Washington/Greene). The grants aim to support the important work of these organizations and ensure the safety of the communities they serve.
"Our fire and EMS companies are vital to the health and safety of our communities," Cook emphasized. "They stand ready to put their lives on the line to help others. These grants are designed to help ensure they can continue this important mission."
The grant funding is made possible through a program established by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). It is important to note that the funding comes exclusively from proceeds generated by slot machine gaming and not from General Fund tax revenue.
The list of local fire and ambulance companies, along with the amount of their grant awards, has been released. All companies that meet the requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. These companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC in order to receive their grants.
In Greene County, several organizations have been awarded grants, including the Bobtown Dunkard Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance, Carmichaels and Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Department, and the Clarksville and Community Volunteer Fire Department. Representative Cook highlighted that these grants will provide critical support to these organizations.
Washington County has also seen several organizations benefit from the grants, such as the California Volunteer Fire Department, Charleroi Fire Department, and the Cokeburg Volunteer Fire Company. The funding will help these organizations continue their important work in ensuring the safety of the communities they serve.
Representative Bud Cook of the 50th Legislative District expressed his satisfaction with the grants awarded, stating, "Our fire and EMS companies play a crucial role in protecting our communities. I am glad that these grants will provide them with the necessary resources to carry out their duties effectively."
The grants serve as a recognition of the invaluable service provided by these fire and emergency response organizations. The funding will contribute to the continued mission of safeguarding the well-being of the communities in the 50th Legislative District.
