HARRISBURG – As a free service to the community, Reps. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) and Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny) will hold a shredding event on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Ringgold Middle School. The event aims to help residents of the 48th and 39th legislative districts protect themselves against identity theft by securely destroying personal documents.
The event will take place from 9-11 a.m.
“Identity theft continues to be a problem,” O’Neal said. “Properly destroying documents with sensitive information is one of the easiest ways to prevent becoming a victim. I encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity.”
“My first shredding event earlier this year was very popular,” Kuzma said. “I’m happy to partner with Rep. O’Neal to bring this event to the southern portion of my legislative district. However, no matter where you live in either of our districts, you are welcome to attend.”
Acceptable items include all paper documents. Each household may bring no more than three brown paper grocery bags or small open cardboard boxes, with bags preferred over boxes. Businesses are not permitted to participate. Large binder clips or hardbound covers will not be accepted, and materials thicker than one inch must be broken down.
All items for shredding should be placed in the trunk of the vehicle, and participants should remain in their vehicles to expedite the process. Upon arrival, individuals should open their trunks.
For more information, contact O’Neal’s Washington district office at 724-223-4541 or Kuzma’s Pleasant Hills district office at 412-382-2009.
