Rep. Tim O’Neal of Washington announced the allocation of over $1.3 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for various projects within the 48th Legislative District. The funding is part of Act 71 of 2004, which distributes LSA gaming revenues to support public interest projects across Pennsylvania.
O'Neal emphasized the importance of these grants, stating, “Each of these grants will address critical needs in the 48th Legislative District.” He noted that some projects focus on sewer and wastewater issues, while others aim to preserve historic sites and enhance safety for senior residents. O'Neal added, "I will continue to advocate for funds for Washington County."
The grant recipients include:
- Carroll Township Authority, receiving $200,000 for a sewer lateral rehabilitation project in Victory Hills and Craven Hills.
- City of Washington, awarded $184,500 to rehabilitate flooring and pathways at the historic stone pavilion in Washington Park.
- Morris Township, granted $38,017 for planning a wastewater treatment plant in Prosperity village.
- North Franklin Township, allocated $750,000 for expanding public sewer services covering construction and engineering costs.
- Washington County Redevelopment Authority, provided with $135,000 to upgrade call-for-aid pull cords in senior housing facilities.
The 48th Legislative District encompasses several areas within Washington County including the city of Washington; Amwell; parts of Carroll; East Finley; Fallowfield; Morris; North Franklin; parts of North Strabane; Nottingham; Somerset; South Franklin; South Strabane; West Finley townships and boroughs such as Donora, East Washington and Green Hills.
