St. Benedict the Abbot Church recently issued the following announcement.
PRAYER AND FELLOWSHIP AT GIANT OAKS WINERY
The Men’s Club of St. John XXIII cordially invites the first 110 people of the parish who sign up to attend our annual wine tasting event. This year we will meet at Giant Oaks Winery in Finleyville. Giant Oaks opened amid the pandemic in 2020, and club members recently discovered this jewel. Upon approaching the owner to conduct the wine tasting in the Pope Benedict Center, he immediately offered to host the event at his winery in Finleyville. We believe this is a wonderful location to meet, pray together, and ultimately share some long overdue fellowship with family and friends.
Please show up at 6:00 pm on Monday August 9, 3540 Washington Ave., Finleyville, PA. The entrance is on Short St. We will offer prayer intentions and then pray the rosary together starting about 6:15 pm.
Following the rosary, the Men’s Club will sponsor a wine tasting of 6 Giant Oaks wines; 3 red and 3 white wines, along with hors d’oeuvres consisting of chips and salsa, cheese and fruit tray, and cheese ball and crackers. We hope this facilitates fellowship and a return to a more normal social interaction following COVID.
Giant Oaks owner, Lou Siufiy, makes all of the wines being tasted and will share his story of how he got his passion for making wines.
Following the tasting, individuals may purchase wine by the glass and additional food items, if desired. We hope you will come and pray with us and enjoy some long awaited fellowship as we sample some very good wines from a local winemaker.
Please RSVP to Greg Adams by text, phone call, or email. Greg’s contact information: 7176830928 and email gaadams54@gmail.com. The deadline for signing up is Tuesday August 3.
