State Rep. Cook, Bud | Pennsylvania 50th Legislative District
Representative Bud Cook of the 50th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives recently voiced concerns regarding the formation of The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. In a letter to the editor, Representative Cook highlighted potential implications on constitutional rights.
The Vice President's announcement of the office raised alarms for Representative Cook, who expressed his commitment to assessing the impact of these efforts on citizens' rights as outlined in the United States and Pennsylvania constitutions. He criticized the reliance on unelected officials to enforce a national Red Flag policy, stating that it could lead to violations of privacy, property rights, Second Amendment rights, due process rights, and the right to personal self-defense.
Furthermore, Representative Cook pointed out the potential consequences of House Bill 777, which he believes could result in the creation of a de facto registry for self-assembled firearms. He emphasized his opposition to what he perceives as unconstitutional measures that could limit the rights of law-abiding Pennsylvanians.
In closing, Representative Bud Cook reassured constituents of his commitment, stating, "I promise you I will continue to stand against the unconstitutional weaponization of state and federal partnerships that assault every law-abiding citizen and 'We the People' of the 50th District and every Pennsylvanian’s God-given rights."
