COAL CENTER – Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) acknowledged a $1.5 million grant awarded to the California Academy of Learning Charter School in Coal Center, emphasizing its significance for the community and future leaders.

“We are proud supporters of CAL Charter School, having walked the halls when only a few students were enrolled and now having witnessed firsthand the positive impact it is having on our students, families and the broader community thanks to the unique partnership between the school and the district,” Cook stated during an event on Thursday highlighting the award.

“This grant award is a testament to the school’s dedication to excellence and its relentless pursuit of educational advancement, ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential,” he added.

The funding will support program expansion, investment in advanced technology, and continued personalized learning experiences.

The Pennsylvania Charter Schools Program (PACSP) Grant is funded through the federal Every Student Succeeds Act and administered by the Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools.
