The Greene County Board of Commissioners has secured $1.04 million in state funding to replace a bridge on Kiger Road in Perry Township, according to an announcement by Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington). The bridge is considered structurally deficient with a sufficiency rating of 45.3 and qualifies for replacement under the Federal Highway Administration guidelines.

"Southwestern Pennsylvania has so much to offer with our assets, attractions and activities, but we can’t expect people to come if we don’t have safe and reliable infrastructure," said Cook. "I am pleased to see this investment being made in replacing a bridge that sorely needs it."

The funds were granted through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. This program provides financial support to various entities such as municipalities, councils of governments, businesses, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, ports, and rail freight entities. The goal is to improve transportation infrastructure that enhances communities while ensuring pedestrian safety and transit revitalization.
