More than $300,000 in recreation grants have been allocated to Greene County, according to an announcement by Representative Bud Cook.
"Greene County has so many assets, attractions and activities that make it a great place to live, work and raise a family," Cook stated. "I am pleased to see the state further investing in these key recreation areas in our communities."
The funding includes $211,700 for the development of Wisecarver Recreation Area in Franklin Township. Planned improvements include pedestrian walkways, an internal loop trail, softball fields, stormwater management measures, play equipment with safety surfacing and fencing, ADA access, landscaping, project signage, and other site enhancements.
Jefferson Township will receive $100,000 for the rehabilitation and development of Jefferson Township Community Park. This project will involve renovating pedestrian walkways, comfort stations and parking areas; constructing additional walkways; implementing stormwater management measures; installing fencing and bleachers; ensuring ADA access; landscaping; adding project signage; and other related improvements.
These grants are provided through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Community Conservation Partnership Program. The funding sources include the Keystone Fund from realty transfer tax revenue, the Environmental Stewardship Fund, fees from ATV/Snowmobile licenses, and federal funds.
