Rep. Bud Cook has relaunched his Student Advisory Initiative, aiming to engage young people in issues affecting their communities. During a visit to California Area High School, Cook emphasized the importance of involving students in local matters.
“These students represent the future of our nation, our Commonwealth and our communities,” said Cook. “If we want to keep them here, and help them succeed here, we need to get them involved, hear their concerns and work with them to help make our region the best it can be.”
Cook discussed history, government, public service, and the goals of his initiative with students. He also participated in an interview with the school news station.
“The enthusiasm of our young people is infectious, and I want to make sure we capitalize on that,” he stated.
The initiative was active before but paused due to COVID-19. It will involve two students from each school district who will recruit classmates to identify local assets and activities.
The 50th Legislative District includes Bentworth, Bethlehem-Center, Brownsville Area, California Area, Carmichaels Area, Central Greene, Charleroi, Jefferson-Morgan, Southeastern Greene and West Greene districts.
