Rep. Bud Cook announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development is set to provide nearly $300,000 in grants to aid two initiatives in Greene County. These funds aim to support community revitalization and assist low-income individuals in the area.
The Way Community Center of Greene County is allocated $276,300 to establish a versatile space for community interaction. The project plans to foster interpersonal connections through various activities, including educational and cultural events.
In addition, the Community Foundation of Greene County will receive $32,808 to support the Weekend Backpack Food Program for local students. This initiative ensures about 255 students receive food every weekend.
Rep. Cook expressed his approval, saying, "I am grateful to see support for these meaningful projects to help people of all ages in our Greene County communities." He emphasized, "Our county is at its strongest when we are together. I am always pleased to support projects and goals aimed at creating a safe environment for our children to grow in the 50th District."
The Neighborhood Assistance Program grants are part of a larger effort in Pennsylvania to drive innovation and economic growth, intending to leave a lasting positive effect on the community.
