Diocese of Pittsburgh Celebrates St. Joseph Day for Families and Friends

St. Michael Roman Catholic Church recently issued the following announcement.

A morning of faith, fellowship, and prayer to St. Joseph is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at St. Paul Cathedral, in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, 108 N Dithridge St, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

Families, individuals, young adults, and people of all ages are welcome. Tickets cost $14 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $5 for children (ages 6-12). Details and registration for the event may be found at https://diopitt.org/st-joseph-day-for-families-and-friends  Deadline for registration is September 11, 2021.

Parking will be available at Oakland Catholic High School (144 N Craig St, Pittsburgh, PA 15213). There will be not be parking available at the Cathedral.

Due to levels of community spread of the COVID-19 virus, attendees are strongly encouraged to wear masks at this event regardless of vaccination status.

Event schedule:

9:30 am: Mass celebrated by Bishop David A. Zubik

10:30 am: Brunch

11:00 am: Mike Aquilina delivers a keynote talk on "St. Joseph: A Man and a Model for Our Times.” (During this talk, a prayerful tour of the cathedral will be available to children ages 6 and up. An activity will also be available for toddlers.)

11:40 am: Consecration of families and individuals to St. Joseph

12:00 pm: Blessing and departure

Mike Aquilina is a popular author on Church history, especially the study of the early Church Fathers. He is executive vice president and trustee of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, a research center based in Steubenville, OH. He is a contributing editor of Angelus magazine and general editor of the Reclaiming Catholic History Series from Ave Maria Press. He hosts "The Way of the Fathers," a podcast produced by CatholicCulture.org. He is an author and editor of more than 50 books, recently the author of: St. Joseph and His World.

Books will be available for sale and signing following the presentation and conclusion of the program.
