HARRISBURG – Supporters of the state’s agriculture industry are gearing up for a special event at the state Capitol to celebrate the Second Annual Blessing of the Balers and “May is Beef Month” on May 7. The event, hosted by state Rep. Bud Cook and the Pennsylvania Beef Council, in collaboration with various agriculture associations, aims to honor the hardworking individuals in the agriculture sector.

Representative Bud Cook expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “I am so excited to be working with many of our outstanding statewide agriculture groups this year to further celebrate the hardworking men and women who work in the barns and fields, and to bless the balers in preparation for a productive hay season.”

Duff George, Pennsylvania Beef Council Board Chairman and Pennsylvania Cattleman's Board Member, highlighted the significance of May as Beef Month, emphasizing, “May is Beef Month is a time where we celebrate beef as a powerhouse protein as we kickoff grilling season and remind those that join us at the event that beef has a great ‘steak’ in agriculture. The celebratory occasion would not be possible without the hardworking producers who strive every day to produce quality beef and take care of the land for the next generation.”

The celebration, set to commence at 11:30 a.m. on Commonwealth Avenue in Harrisburg, will feature remarks from key figures in the agriculture industry, including Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding. Tractors and balers provided by New Holland and Landpro Equipment will be on display, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.
