HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) announced today that a grant of $228,596 has been awarded to Carroll Township for the replacement of a bridge. The funding originates from the Multimodal Transportation Fund under the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which oversees the state’s economic stimulus programs. The fund aims to promote economic development and ensure a safe and efficient transportation system within the Commonwealth.

Speaking on the importance of the project, Rep. Tim O’Neal emphasized, "While this is not a large bridge, it is vital to the community." He further highlighted that, "The roadway is an important north to south artery from Dry Run Road to Bentleyville Road." O’Neal acknowledged the significance of state funding in making the project feasible, stating, "This project would not be possible without assistance from funding from the state budget, which I supported, as it would have eaten up about 12% of the township’s 2024 budget."

The grant will be utilized to replace a one-lane bridge on Hazel Kirk Road with a structure that complies with current design standards. Additionally, the roadway will be realigned to enhance traffic flow in the area.

The 48th Legislative District in Washington County, represented by Rep. Tim O’Neal, encompasses various townships and boroughs. The project in Carroll Township is a part of the ongoing efforts to maintain and improve infrastructure within the district.
